Tobit writes a prayer of rejoicing to God, who scourges and has mercy, who leads down to the grave and brings up again. He calls the children of Israel, scattered among the nations, to confess God there, to turn to Him with their whole heart, and promises that He will gather them again. The hymn then turns to Jerusalem: punished for her children's works, she will be rebuilt with sapphires, emeralds and pure gold, many nations will come to her with gifts, and her streets will sing Alleluia.
