Tobit, whose sight was restored after eight years, reaches a great age and before dying tells Tobias to leave Nineveh for Media, because the prophecy of Jonah against the city will be fulfilled. He foresees the exile and the burning of the Temple, then the return, the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the turning of the nations to God, and urges his children to keep the law and give alms, recalling how Aman's treachery against Achiacharus came to nothing. Tobias buries his parents, settles at Ecbatana with Raguel, inherits both houses, and before his death at 127 hears with joy of the fall of Nineveh.
