Tobit and Tobias decide to give their companion half of everything they brought back. Taking them aside, the angel urges them to praise God openly and teaches that prayer is good with fasting and alms, for 'alms doth deliver from death'. He then reveals that he brought their prayers before the Holy One and was with Tobit when he buried the dead, declaring, 'I am Raphael, one of the seven holy angels'; he tells them to write all these things in a book, goes up to the one who sent him and is seen no more.
