At Ecbatana, Raguel and his wife Edna welcome the travellers and weep when they learn that Tobias is the son of their blind kinsman Tobit. Tobias will not eat until the marriage is agreed; Raguel frankly admits that seven men died on their wedding night, yet gives Sara to Tobias according to the law of Moses and writes the marriage contract. Edna prepares the bridal chamber and comforts her weeping daughter, praying that the Lord of heaven will give her joy for her sorrow.
