Expecting to die, Tobit remembers the ten talents left with Gabael and calls Tobias to give him his last instructions: to bury him, to honour his mother all her days and to lay her in the same grave. He urges him to give alms according to his means, 'for alms do deliver from death', to marry within his own people as the patriarchs did, to pay workers their wages at once and to 'do that to no man which thou hatest'. He ends by telling him where the money is and assuring him that they are rich if they fear God.
