Out of Jacob came Moses, 'beloved of God and men', glorified before kings, brought into the dark cloud and given the law of life to teach Israel. Most of the chapter honours his brother Aaron and his everlasting priesthood. His vestments are described in detail: the robe and ephod, the pomegranates and golden bells, the breastplate with Urim and Thummim, the stones engraved for the tribes, and the gold crown engraved 'Holiness'. When Dathan, Abiron and the company of Core rose against him, fire consumed them. Phinees the son of Eleazar, third in glory, received a covenant of peace.
