Wisdom 6 - Summary

Summary

Read Wisdom Chapter 6 Summary

The author turns to kings and judges of the ends of the earth: their power is given by the Lord, who will search their counsels, and 'mighty men shall be mightily tormented' if they rule unjustly, for God stands in awe of no man's greatness. So let them learn wisdom. She is easily found by those who love her; whoever seeks her early finds her 'sitting at his doors'. A chain of steps leads from the desire of discipline to love, from love to keeping her laws, then to incorruption and nearness to God: the desire of wisdom brings to a kingdom. The speaker promises to tell what she is.
