On the day of judgment the righteous man stands in great boldness before those who afflicted him, and they, groaning, confess: 'This was he, whom we had sometimes in derision.' They admit they erred from the way of truth, and that their pride and riches passed like a shadow, like a ship whose keel leaves no trace in the waves, a bird through the air, an arrow through the sky. The hope of the ungodly is dust blown by the wind, but the righteous live for evermore and receive a beautiful crown. The Lord puts on righteousness as a breastplate, and the world fights with him against the unwise.
