Nathan prophesied in David's time, and David was chosen out of Israel 'as is the fat taken away from the peace offering'. He played with lions as with kids, beat down Goliath with his sling, broke the Philistines and set singers before the altar; the Lord took away his sins and gave him a covenant of kings. His wise son Solomon reigned in peace, built a house for God's name and gathered gold as tin, but bowed his loins to women and stained his honour. So the kingdom was divided under foolish Roboam and Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, yet God left a root to David.
