The book now retells history as the work of wisdom, naming no one. She preserved the first formed father and brought him out of his fall; Cain perished in the fury with which he murdered his brother; she steered Noah through the flood 'in a piece of wood of small value'. She kept Abraham strong against his love for his son, delivered Lot from the fire on the five cities, where a pillar of salt still stands, guided Jacob fleeing his brother's wrath, and went down with Joseph into the pit until she brought him the sceptre. She entered Moses and led the people through the Red Sea.
