The teacher lists what one need not be ashamed of: the law and the covenant, exact balances and weights, correcting children and putting accounts in writing. A father wakes for his daughter: when young, lest she pass her flower unmarried; when married, lest she be hated or barren. Then the book turns to creation: 'I will now remember the works of the Lord.' The sun looks upon all things and is full of his glory. God searches the deep and the heart, knows things past and to come, needs no counsellor, and has made all things in pairs, nothing imperfect.
