Sirach 21 - Summary

Summary

Read Sirach Chapter 21 Summary

'My son, hast thou sinned? do so no more.' Flee sin as from a serpent with a lion's teeth; iniquity is a two-edged sword whose wounds cannot be healed. The way of sinners is paved smooth, but at its end is the pit of hell. The rest of the chapter contrasts the wise man and the fool: the knowledge of the wise abounds like a flood, while the fool is a broken vessel that holds nothing; he laughs aloud, peeps in at the door and walks straight into his neighbour's house. 'The heart of fools is in their mouth: but the mouth of the wise is in their heart.'
