Judith tells the people to hang the head on the wall and go out at dawn as if to attack. She sends for Achior; seeing the head, he faints, then falls at her feet and blesses her. Having seen what the God of Israel has done, Achior believes, is circumcised and joins the house of Israel. At sunrise the Israelites march out, and Bagoas, thinking his master asleep with Judith, finds Holofernes headless on the floor. He tears his clothes and cries that one Hebrew woman has shamed the house of Nabuchodonosor.
